Concrete Silo and Stacking Tube Repairs
San-Con can repair your damaged structure. Working in conjunction with engineers experienced in silo design and repairs, we can help you establish the most cost effective way to get your damaged structure back into use. We are experienced in a variety of concrete repair techniques, including concrete liners, post tensioned bands, epoxy injection, concrete cutting, core drilling, and shotcreting. Our experience in repairing a variety of structures over the years means we know how to get into your structure and to perform the work safely.
Silo walls damaged due to material forming asymmetric flow channels can be a problem. One of our more effective repair techniques is Post Tensioned Bands (PTB). The PTB process can help reinforce a silo damaged by asymmetric flow. The bands, when properly placed, squeeze the silo to put the concrete into compression. Post tensioning a problem silo will often allow you to return the silo to its full design capacity usage and extend its life considerably at just a fraction of the replacement cost.
When PTB isn't appropriate, concrete liners are often considered. Liners basically replace the existing wall with a new wall. Depending on the configuration of the original silo, liners my be interior or exterior, and allow for full use of the silo once complete. Many times the new liner/wall can be designed to accommodate asymmetric flow pressures.
Another process that is appropriate for less serious problems is epoxy injection. The epoxy injection process allows for an in situ repair of cracked concrete, without costly removal of the damaged concrete. While not appropriate for all cracked concrete problems, our epoxy injection experience is another tool in San-Con's tool box.
From liners and bands, to concrete replacement and epoxy injection, let San-Con provide an estimate for your next repair project.
